MONDAY’S WRESTLING

Blomfield to Meet McCready for Empire Title

“Lofty” Blomfield (Auckland), the pride of New Zealand’s wrestling schools, will have one of the most important matches of his career on Monday night when he will meet Earl McCready (Canada) in a bout for the British Empire heavyweight professional championship at the Wellington Town Hall. It will be Blomfield’e first bout with McCready this season and the first opportunity enthusiasts will have of judging how matters stand between the two men at the present time. Both McCready and Blomfield have an army of supporters in the Dominion, their performances during the past two seasons having caused them to be singled out as wrestlers who, more than any others, can be relied upon to give the type of performance which the public likes most. Their form this season can be judged by the way they have shaped against the same opposition, in this case Jack Forsgren. Blomfield has met Forsgren several times and has established superiority over the Canadian, while McCready met the strongest, opposition he has encountered so far this season when lie gave Forsgren an opportunity to challenge him for the title. The hookings are so heavy that accommodation will be at a premium. There will be amateur preliminaries from S o’clock.
