AFTERNOON FOR Y.M.C.A. FUND
A pleasant and successful afternoon was held recently at the residence of Mrs. D. Vernon, 2,3 Bidwell Street, arranged by Mrs. Vernon and Mrs. W. F. Henley, to assist in raising funds for the Y.M.C.A. Ladies’ Auxiliary seventieth birthday gift. Vocal solos were given by Mrs. N. Mathie and Mrs. Childs, and elocutionary items by Mrs. Briggs jnr. Mrs. Gibb was the accompanist. The sum of three pounds was raised from the sales of home-made calces and jam. Afternoon tea wms served, after which, Mrs, Henley thanked the ladies for their interest in such a worthy cause; and also thanked those who had contributed items. Mrs. L. J. Greenberg expressed thanks to Mrs. Henley and Mrs. Vernon for their effort.
