RAYNER GIRLS RETURN

To Assist Y.W.C.A. Funds

Aliases Joan and Betty Rayner, troubadour sisters, who have just returned from a successful tour of the South Island, presented “Scarlet and Gray” again at the Blue Triangle Hall last night. The programme was the same as that given on thejy previous visit to Wellington, comprising a collection of old folk songs, dances and stories, all in national costumes_. made while on a recent caravanu tour of Europe. There was a Swedish folk-song and folk-dance, ballads from Denmark, Scotland, Sweden; a folk-song from French-Canada, and one from Somerset ; two English rounds, and a French legend. An interesting quarter of songs, ballads, and dances was adapted from a Slavonic origin, and a song, mime, and play, telling the tale of Arlequin and Columbine, concluded the performance. Half the proceeds of this performance and to-morrow evening’s performance of “Cap and Bells,” the final appearance of the Rayner girls before they leave for Auckland and then for America, will be .given to assist the Y.W.C.A. City Girls’ Rainbow Triangle finance scheme.
