STEADY PROGRESS

Wellington Homing Pigeon Society

In. reporting upon the activities of the Wellington Homing Pigeon Society for the pa<st year, the hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. F. J. Oouper, states that it gives him great pleasure to refer again to the continued progress being made by the society. “Our one handicap at present is the lack of accommodation, and this is a matter that will need serious consideration in the near future,” he states. “The financial position of the society must be considered most satisfactory, and I sincerely hope this happy state of affairs will continue. Several outstanding performances were recorded during the season, notably the velocity of 2092 yards a minute in the Timaru one-bird flock race. The performances of B. Clements in again winning the Maritime Cup, North Shield, and Newman Gup, is also worthy of mention. “To our liberators and the gentlemen who acted as judges at our .weekly shows we owe a deep debt of gratitude. To the donors of special trophies, the Press for publishing our results, and to the Broadcasting Board for broadcasting liberation times and results of races, we also offer sincere thanks. A special debt of grati- t tude is also due to Miss Elliott for her assistance in advising members of liberation time, and forwarding these to be broadcast. “Our social and dance proved' a very happy affair, and to all who assisted us our sincere thanks are recorded. I would like to appeal to all members to do their utmost in the coming season to turn up on hampering nights especially, and lend a hand to the several duties required, and endeavour to do all in their power to.further the smooth running of our society. To all those who have lent assistance m the past I tender sincere thanks.”
