Speaking nt a meeting of the ChristdiurcliAVel sli Society, Mt. C. Ben* uett referred to the interesting method now followed in the teaching of history in the Native schools of New Zealand. The children were required to collect from the older Maoris the legends handed down to them and the legends thus collected were published in school magazines. As this was being done in all the schools, it would be seen that very valuable historical and anthropological material was being obtained.
