OBITUARY

Mr. J. J. Connor Mr. John Joseph Connor, assistantmanager of the Post and Telegraph Department Stores, Wellington, died recently at the age of 63. He was born at Dunedin, and educated at the Christian Brothers’ School there. In liis youth Mr. Connor was a prominent member of the Dunedin Rowing Club, and many years ago was a member of the Cromwell Borough Council and Cromwell Jockey Club. He was immediate past-president of the Wellington branch of the Christian Brothers' Old Boys’ Association, and was a member of the executive. Mr. Connor was a widower, and is survived by three daughters, Mesdames F. Fitzgerald and J. Kershaw, and Miss M Connor, and three sons. Messrs. J. J. B. Connor, Wadestown, T. F. Connor. Tauranga, and Justin Connor, Miramar. The funeral took place from the Basilica, Hill Street, yesterday. ■ Among those who attended were Messrs. J. Madden, chief postmaster at Wellington, McDermott, chief telegraph engineer, Maun, former controller of stores, Plank, former chief telegraph engineer, F. J Foot, and T. Pound, president and vice-president respectively of the Wellington branch of the Christian Brothers’ Old Boys’ Associa-, tion. Mr. Janies Currie The death took place yesterday morning of a very old resident of Masterton and Hawke’s Bay In the person of Mr. James Currie, aged 82. Besides his wife, Mr. Currie leaves a family of 11 children. The daughters are: Mrs. E. G. Williams, Mrs. A. E. Prentice (Masterton), Mrs. N. Williams (Carterton), Mrs. E.'Glasspoie (Palmerston North), Mrs. R. A. Clarke (Wellington), Mrs. C. Eckhold (Na-pier),-and the sons, Messrs. D. 8., Jim, Fred (Masterton), A. L. (Christchurch) and Toss (Whangamomona, Stratford). Mr. Currie came to New Zealand 62 years ago from North Ireland, and in the early days ran the coaches between Napier and Hastings prior to the laying of the railways. Later he farmed at ’Woodville, subsequently coming to Masterton, where he resided for 28 years, carrying on business as a contractor. He had been retired for a number of years. Mrs. P. C. Reynolds The death occurred suddenly yesterday morning, at 10 Wrigley Street, of Mrs. Margaret Reynolds, wife of Mr. P. C. Reynolds. She was 63 years of age and had resided in Masterton for the past 38 years. Mrs. Reynolds was born in Sydney and was a daughter of the late Mr. T. McAteer. A sister and a brother are resident in Australia. She is survived by her husband and a family , of four children —Mrs. F. P. Brown, Essex Street, Miss Nita Reynolds, and Messrs. Charles and lan Reynolds, of Masterton. One son died in 1929. Late Mr. W. 'F. Morrison The funeral of the late Mr. W. F. Morrison on Saturday was attended by a large gathering of personal and business friends. The services at the chapel and crematorium was conducted by the Rev. A. D. Armstrong and Hie pallbearers were Messrs. Colin Morrison, Norman Morrison (sons), W. Widdowson (brother-in-law), T. Davenport, J. E. Bass and F. H. Bass. Among those present were: Mrs. Morrison, Mr. L. Morrison (brother), Mrs. Timlin (sister). Miss C. Anderson. Messrs. G.
