ONE NATIVE DEAD; FOUR INJURED

Apia, June 20.
During a celebration in connection with the opening of a Roman Catholic Church at Falefa, Upolu, at 6 p.m. yesterday, after a singing competition between the Siumu, Nofaalii and Falefa villages, a dispute arose over. the decision. An affray occurred when stones were freely used, and five male Samoans were injured. Aso, orator of the Nofaalii village, died in Apia hospital eight hours later as a result of injuries. The affray was witnessed by Bishop Darnard, visiting priests and a large gathering of Samoans from all parts of the territory.
The police have the matter in hand and criminal charges will follow.
