Farewell to Thespians’ President
As a wind-up to their most successful season of "Laburnum Grove,” the Thespians held a very enjoyable party in their Little Theatre on Saturday night. The occasion was also a farewell to the president of the society, Mr. G. H. Bassant, and Mrs. Bassant, who will leave shortly on a visit to England. Mr. Victor S. Lloyd, the director of the Thespians, spoke of the great assistance Mr. Bassant had given to the society in many ways, and presented him, on behalf of the committee, with a cuff-links set, engraved with the Thespians’ emblem. Mrs. Bassant was presented with a nouquet by Miss Winnie Cooley. Mr. Bassant spoke briefly, thanking the society for the gift, and said that he and Mrs. Bassant had thoroughly enjoyed doing whatever they could. Mr. O. N. Gillespie, who played the lead in the show, also spoke, and" paid a tribute to the work Of the producer, Mr. Victor Lloyd. Items were given by several members, and, after a delightful supper had been served, the party continued into the morning.
