Y.W.C.A. GALA NIGHT

A successful concert in aid of the Y W.O.A. city girls’ finance effort took place in the Blue Triangle Hall on Saturday night. This served as the halfway reporting night in the rainbow triangle effort, and a feature of the 'evening was the mock capping ceremony, when representatives of the firms that are making up the triangles gave in their results and were solemnly “capped” with the colour representing the amount they had collected to date Mr. Campbell Cree became “Professor of Shekels University” for the occasion and performed the capping ceremony. An enjoyable programme was contributed to by the following: Miss K. Hakqriah, Maori song and dance; Miss Hilda Steveiison, song; Mr. Dover, conjuring tricks; Lila Garnbnm, Miss Daphne Violieh, Mr. F. Gaines, recitations; Misses Eileen Garry, Wynne Cbowyno and Nolan (2), tap duos; Misses Pat Reade and Grace, Lawrie, dance duo; D.I.C. staff. Hawaiian ballet; Miss Doherty, and the Rhythm Sisters, song and dance items. Supper was served in the cafeteria at the conclusion of the evening.
