Perfect weather over the week-end saw Wellington city and suburban golf links crowded to fullest capacity. _ Yesterday was almost summer-like in its generous sunshine and genial atmosphere.

Miramar Club

There was a large entry for the Stableford bogey competition played on tae .Miramar links on Saturday afternoon. The winner proved to be D. Brown, w-th 33-8-41. Next came H. E. H- Aplin, 36-3-39; V. E. Sutherland, 36-3-30; 1. E. James, 30-S-38; J. P. Colwill. 29-9-38, G. S. Rees, 35-2-37 -, A. Marsden, 29-8-31; M. M. Dykes, 28-9-37; S. Gambnll, 32-5-37; A. E. Doncghue, 30-6-36. In the third round of the Prince of Wales Cup competition on Saturday, H. A. Black beat M. R. Moore by 5 and 4. Forty-four pairs took part in the fourball bogey competition yesterday morning. The Sixteen Qualifiers Dominion Special Service. Dannevirke, June 21. The Southern Hawke’s Bay open golf tournament commenced on the Dannevirke course to-day in perfect weather. The links were in excellent order, and the 93 competitors from all parts of the southern portion of the North Island thorouhly enjoyed the day’s play. Some good golf was seen in the qualifying rounds for the championship, J. P. Hornabrook, Palmerston North, and L. A. Reid, Waipukurau, both recording 71 in the first round, as against par 73. Hornabrook headed the sixteen who qualified to play off for the championship with rounds of 71 and 75, his aggregate of 146 being four strokes better than Reid, who came second.
