TECHNICAL POINTS
British Shipping in the
Pacific
COMMITTEE TO INQUIRE
London, June 19.
The shipping editor of “The Times” understands that certain technical aspects of the problem of Pacific ship ping are being referred to the Imperial Shipping Committee, which will consider points such as the volume of passenger and goods traffic in the past and possibilities of expansion. It is expected that the committee’s work will be confined to marshalling facts. Shipping authorities express the aope that no time will be lost, and consider It would be most unfortunate if advantage was not taken of the presence of Mr. R. G. Menzies, Australian Attorney-General, and Sir Edward Beatty, chairman of Canadian Pacific Steamships, Ltd., Io secure an agreement on the main principles of financial assistance, the operation of which could be made dependent on the Imperial Shipping Committee’s report.
