Australian’s Proposal

The president of the Grafton Chamber of Commerce, Mr. R. Braithwaite, recommended his colleagues to endorse a proposal in favour of bringing 1,000,000 German colonists to Australia to help in development as “Germans have comprised the most industrious settlers in the past.” Mr. Braithwaite urged that proper provision should first be made for the sons of Australian settlers, after which Germans should be encouraged to migrate and settle on tlie land. The proposal was approved and remitted to the authorities at (Sydney.
