Coronation of George V
(From “The Dojnlnlon,” June S2, 19(1.) Rain or shine, the Wellington celebrations in honour of the coronation of his Majesty King George V will be carried out to-day. Alternative programmes have been drawn up to suit circumstances. The “fine weather” programme- of events briefly is as follows: —9 a.m., \ otive Mass at the Basilica. 10 a.m.: Service at St. John’s, Willis Street- 10.15 a.m.: Service at St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, at which his Excellency the Governor wil be present. 10.45 a.m.: Procession (civil and military), marshalled outside the Basin Reserve. 11.30 a.m.: Troops drawn up iu review order at Newtown Park. Noon: Inspection by his Excellency, march past, speeches, etc. 1.5 p.m.: Assemblage disperses. Afternoon: Free picture shows for the children. Evening: Free concert at the Town Hall, and torchlight procession and tattoo at Athletic Park. s 4 »
The ceremony of laying the foundation stone of a town hall for the borough of Miramar will be performed at 9 o’clock this morning by the Mayor, Mr. J. Brodie.
The Victoria College Council last night authorised its chairman, Mr. O. Wilson, to sign on its behalf the petition to the City Council in favour of providing a passenger lift as a means of communication between the Terrace and the lower levels.
