Dominion Conference
The Hon. W. Perry, M.L.C., was reelected president of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association to the singing of "For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” at the conclusion of the association’s annual conference in Wellington yesterday. Proposing Mr. Perry s election, Mr. B. J. Jacobs, vice-presi-dent, said there was no other returned soldier in New Zealand who coulu. fill the office so well. The formal call for other nominations was ' greeted with laughter. Mr. Jacobs was re-elected vice-presi-dent "with a similar display of en thusiasm. Other officers were elected as follow :—District vice-presidents, ■ Messrs. S P. Day (Auckland), R. F. Gambrill (Wellington-Nelson-Marlborough),’ W. McClure (Canterbury-Westland), A. McHutchon (Otago-Southland) ; hontreasurer, Mr. J. D. Harper; general committee, Messrs. A. W. M. Ohlson (Auckland), J. Spence (Wellington). E. J. Brammall (Marlborough), E. F Willcox (Christchurch), O. L. Ferens (Dunedin) and J. H- Irving (Wairarapa) ; executive committee, Messrs J. D. Harper, C. W. Batten, A. T. Duncan D. G. Munro, H. B, Burdekin. G. A. Hayden, G. T, Hall, J. I. Goldsmith, and Col. A. Cowles; representative on N.Z.E.F. Canteen and Regimental Trust Fund Board, Col. M. Aidred; representative on War Pensions Board, Mr. J. D. Harper; representatives on central committee, Flock House, Messrs. B. J. Jacobs, A. T. Duncan A. E. Gorton; representatives on Soldiers’ Civil Re-establishment League, Messrs. H. B. Burdekin, E. C. Hall J. I. Goldsmith, G. A. Hayden and "W. L. Comrie (although there is one representative only allowed at present, five were appointed in anticipation’of an alteration of the rules).
