Good fields will parade at Greenmeadowe to-day for the opening of the Napier Park Racing Club’s winter meeting. The track is on the soft side with recent rain, but is in good order. Betting will be on the single pool system. Form at Hastings is freely engaged, but there are some fresh horses, and among the hurdlers Curie is an interesting newcomer. He is a class horse on the flat, and should he take to the jumping game he will reach a high standard. The following horses may be supported in their engagements:— Moteo Hack Hurdles: Curie and Blue Tiger. Maiden Scurry: Golden Ridge and Lucullps Lad. Meanee Hack: First Chapter and Royal Feast. Napier Steeplechase: Royal Banquet and Battleground. Ladies’ Handicap: The Grasper. Flying Handicap: Mata Hari and Passion Flower. Settlers’ Hack: Master Cyklon and Granvale.
