HUTT VALLEY NEWS
For the two mouths of the financial year, the collections on account of rate arrears have beeu approximately £lOO lower than for the same period last year, stated Mr. C. L. Bishop, town clerk of Eastbourne, at last evening's meeting of the borough council. Other items of receipts have been’ normal and the expenditure, which has been principally confined to maintenance work, has also beeu normal.
Authority to set up a line to the Pinehaven and Guilford Estates was given by the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board yesterday, when the engineer and general manager, Mr. E. F. Hollands, stated that consumers’ agreements to the necessary amount had now been obtained.
“Forty-six new consumers were connected during the period since my last report, together with additions _to existing installations to the total of 76,” stated the general manager of the Hutt vailev Power Board at yesterdays monthly meeting. The totals to May 31, 193 b, are as follow:—Number of consumers, 12,3-11; number of ranges, 209Lj_ number of ’water heaters connected, 1755; connected load iu k.w., 48,268.
