Travel Talk at Home Science Alumnae
A delightful talk on her travel experiences in Canada and the British Isles was given by Miss N. Copsey, ot the staff of the Technical College, at a meeting of the Home Science Alumnae, held in the T. and G. Building. , , „ Leaving Vancouver, she spent a month motoring as far across Canada as there were roads to take her. She spent six months at the Toronto General Hospital, where she took a postgraduate course in dietetics. Miss Copsey detailed some of the most interesting points in the general management and working of that large establishment. In the depths of winter she continued her journey with the thermometer several degrees below zero, meeting with a number of unexpected happenings due to the abnormally cold weather. She arrived in England for the spring and bought a bicycle. "A bicycle provides the simplest means of enjoying the persona) response to the roving spirit, and cycling is a very nice thing to do.” said Miss Copsey. She cycled around England and across England, explored every part of Wales, crossed to Ireland and saw practically every part of the country, and in like manner explored Scotland. In between the adventures and misadventures of the road she taught for some time at Laemiugton Spa and at Pontypridd, working under the Minister of Labour and training unemployed girls for domestic service. Later she accepted an appointment to a private school lor girls at Watford. 17 miles from London. She briefly touched on Hie continuation of her cycle tour through most of the countries ot Europe.
