A new model highway to be built at Formbv in Lancashire will be 120 feet wide for nearly f"ur miles, and it will have two traffic ways and cycle tracks, grass vergesand footpaths, and a reserve strip 22 feet wide down the centre.

The world's largest motor-vehicle is a van built in Berlin. It is <0 teet long, seven feet wide, and 11 feet high, and the engine can develop 100 horse-power.

Two groat former cricket captains of England. C. B. Fry and A. E. R. Gilligan, are going to visit Australia this year to see the Test matches between Australia and England. Gilligan, after seeing the first three Test matches, will com? on to New Zealand to visit his elder brother. Mr. F. W. Gilligan, who is now headmaster of Wanganui Collegiate School. In 1929, all the three Gilligans I captained their respective counties.

Only three replies were received by the Auckland Hospital Board from firms who are willing to supply butter to the hospital. It was pointed out by the firms concerned that owing to the uncertainty existing until the effect of the Government’s legislation was definitely known, the firms could not quote a price to uppl.v over any lengthy period. "We are not likely to get any tenders while the present uncertainty exists,” said the chairman, the Rev. W. C. Wood. It wtis decided that the purchasing committee purchase butter for the hospital from month to month until the effect of the Government’s legislation was definitely known.
