Nurserymen and Market
Gardeners
Nursery garden, horticultural and market garden employees met at Lower Hutt last night to discuss working conditions and wages. There was a good attendance of both men and women. Mr. J. Hall presided. Others present included Mr. M. O’Grady, president of the Wellington Labourers and Allied Trades Union. Mr. P. M. Butler, secretary. Mr. D. J. Keane, organiser, was also present. After discussion of conditions and wages, a new schedule was decided on for discussion with the employers concerned, to whom an invitation was issued to meet workers’ representatives next Wednesday night.
