The Karori Auxiliary Committee of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association. which is to bold its annual meeting in the clubroom uext Wednesday night, has a membership roll of 81, an increase of eight over last year. During the year the committee bad been active in providing entertainment and assistance for returned soldiers and their children. Ono. of the main activities of the committee was to arrange employment for men out of work, and it was with considerable satisfaction that the committee reported that the forty-five unemployed ex-servicemen on the roll a year ago had been reduced to thirteen. During the year 338 i days’ work were provided for the unemployed men, a total of £lBO being secured for them in wages. Of this sum the committee found over £5O as subsidy. L’nsubsidised work totalling 107 days was obtained for nine men, who earned approximately £5O by that meajis.
