Hawke’s Bay Boundaries Dominion Special Service. Dannevirke, June 13. At a meeting of dairy-farmers held at Dannevirke on May 30, a resolution was passed recommending the Hawke’s Bay Companies’ Association to apply to the Executive Commission of Agriculture to fix the boundaries of both butter and cheese factories in the Southern Hawkes Bay district. In reply to his letter, the secretary of the association, Mr. C. H. Thompson, has been informed by the commission that it is at present fully occupied with the organisation of the new marketing system, but will be glad to visit Hawke’s Bay as soon as possible with a view of discussing the matter of boundaries with the companies concerned. Personals. Mr. H. Tickner, of Waitahora, Dannevirke, returned to Dannevirke by today’s express train after spending a holiday in Napier and other parts of Hawke’s B *Jliss Malone, who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Soundy, Dannevirke, left by to-day’s express train on her return home to Wellington. Miss Malone is leaving on the Ruahine next month on a visit to England. Badminton. The team to represent Dannevirke against Palmerston North on Tuesday evening next at the Drill Hall, Dannevirke, will be as follows: —Men: M. Erickson, M. L. Pirie, F. Cushing, A. Carr, R. Harper, E. Cushing. Women: G. Angove, A. Miller, K. McMurchie, J. Hansard, T. Hendy, B. Scott. Rugby Football. The Dannevirke Rugby competitions were continued to-day, the weather being beautiful and sunny. MANAWATU RIVER BOARD Retirement of Trustee Foxton, -lune 12. At Thursday’s meeting of the .Manawatu Rabbit Board the resignation of Trustee T. A. Grammer, an original member of the board, was received. Members expressed regret at Mr. Grammer'is severance from the board, with which he had been an active member since 1912. Eulogistic reference was made to his services and it was decided to place on i ecord the good work he had done. A notification was received by the board that variegated thistle and goatsrue had been declared noxious weeds in the Manawatu. The inspector reported as follows: Ihe weather during the month has been ideal for strychnine carrot poisoning, and. a large area has now been completed with satisfactory results. Tallies on the great majority of properties have been much less than last year, and taking a general average of such areas, there is •>. decrease of more than 50 per cent., and in one area the decrease was over 80 per cent. Fumigation has also been carried out on a number of properties inspected and the land is in perfect order for this class of work. Farmers with clear country would be well advised to have immediate attention paid to this work." Moutoa Drainage Board. At Thursday evening’s meeting of the .Moutoa Drainage Board the chairman, Mr. J. Chrystall, stated that the board had been particularly fortunate with the weather this year in connection with its drain cleaning operations. The long spell of dry weather had allowed this to proceed apace and the work was now well in hand. It was reported that the diagonal drain floodgate had now been reconstructed and was working very efficiently.
