MONDAY’S WRESTLING

Kruse’s First Wellington Bout

Few wrestlers have a better record against men who have reached worldchampionship class than has Bob Kruse, of Portland, who is to meet Pete Mehringer in the professional heavyweight match at the Wellington Town Hail on Monday evening. He has been beaten by only two title-holders. Jim Browning and "Strangler' 1 Lewis, but has drawn with Ed Don George and has been unable to induce men like Londos, O'Mahoney and Lopez to enter the ring against him. He also defeated George Walker at the end of 1928 before the latter left for New Zealand. His qualities have long been recognised in New Zealand, and attempts have been made for some years to induce him to come here, but without success until this season, when opposition of the quality to which he is accustomed is available. One of the best men he will come up against is Mehringer, who has shown in previous appearances here that he is a high-class matnian who is ex--ceptionally scientific and fast. He specialises in grapevine, holds, but has a” all-round equipment which serves him well on both attack and defence. There will be amateur preliminaries.
