Discovered on the deck of the Mariposa on the morning after the vessel left Honolulu, a 20-year-old girl, from Salt Lake City, Utah, who stowed awtiy under the impression that the vessel was bound for San Francisco, was transferred in the Pacific to the sister-ship Monterey when the vessels passed at midnight The sea was calm when the girl, whose only possession was a suitcase, was taken across to the Monterey in one of the ship’s boats. She carried with her, however, a sum of nearly 200 dollars, which was subscribed by the passengers.
