A song written in Southland ha* been accepted for publication in London. The ballad, which is entitled "Dear Absent One." is rhe work of Mrs R Wylie, of Greenhills. who wrote toe words, and Mr. J. J. Stroud, of Go-e. who composed the music. Mr. Stroud has been associated with many song successes, several of which have been broadcast by t.he British Broadcasting Corporation, but. although Mrs. lias contributed verse to New Zealand papers, this is her first venture iu the soiig-writiug field.
