Montreal-Australia-NeYV Zealand Line It is announced that the Montreal-Australia-New Zealand Line Ltd. has been formed by the New Zealand Shipping Company, Ltd., Port Line (Commonwealth and Dominion Line Limited) and the Ellerman and Buckrail S.S. Company, Limited (Federal Steam Navigation Company, Limited, agents), to acquire the steamship service at present being run by the Canadian National Steamships to and from Eastern Canada and Australia and New Zealand. Tiie New Zealand head oflice will be at YY’ellington and will be controlled by the New Zealand Shipping Company, Limited, Port Line and the Federal Steam Navigation Company, Limited, for and on behalf of Messrs. Ellerman and Bucknail S.S. Company. Limited, and in the various ports in New Zealand the representatives of these lines will act as agents. It is the intention of the new line to run a regular service from Montreal, and in tiie Canadian winter months from Halifax to Australia and New Zealand, and a return service from Australia and New Zealand main ports tc New York, Boston, .Montreal or Halifax.
It is probable that tiie present steamers will be supplemented when required by faster vessels. Tiie service from Eastern Canada maintained by Canadian National Steamships consisted of two sailings a month from Canada, one to Auckland, YVollirigton and Australia, the other to Australia, Dunedin, Lyttelton and YY’ellington. Tiie vessels in each of these runs also loaded at New Zealand ports for New York. Boston and Montreal.
