A £20,000 FILM
New Australian Venture It was stated yesterday by Mr. B. Vinsen, general manager in New Zealand for Columbia Pictures, that his company has completed arrangements, in conjunction with National Studios, at Pagewood, Sydney, to take a film of a special Australian story written by Zane Grey and featuring Victor Jory. This picture will be directed by Mr, Clarence Badger, who leaves America on the Makura for Sydney on June 3, Mr. Badger is one of Hollywood’s best-known personalities, having directed “No. No, Nanette,” “Bad Mau,” “Under Western Skies,” “Sweethearts and Wives,” “Swim, Girl, Swim.” Mr Jory is also well known to New Zealand audiences, his most recent film being “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The new film is expected to cost £20,000.
