New Zealand Labour Party
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, May 28. Hopes ar° entertained by the New Zealand Labour Party that with the removal of restrictions on the civil servants’ organisations they will aflili-’ ate with the party, according ■ to Mr. Wilson, the national secretary, who is visiting Auckland. “The progress of the party has been remarkable, particularly since the general election,” said Mr. Wilson to an interviewer. “At the snd of the ■financial year we had 221 branches. There must be 300 now. Many are in country places where there have not been branches before.” Replying to a question, Mr. Wilson said that while the party did not interfere in industrial matters there appeared to be great hopes that there would be a coalition of the Trades and Labour Council and other organisations.
