DAMAGED KALINGO

To Dock Next Week Fairly comprehensive temporary repairs have been imide at Grcymoutli to the Union Company's cargo steamer Kalimro, which struck the south tip when'entering that port last Sunday morning. The indentations in the damaged plates in the bow were not severe, tiud the holds are now per fcctly dry. There was a leak in No. 1 bold as the result of the fracture ot one of the plates, but this has now liecn eleetrieail.v welded. The rntldei. steering-gear and propeller have been tested ami found undamaged, and it is thought that the damage is confined to the forward end of the vessel. Tbc Kalingo is to load a part cargo of coal at Greymouth to put her in good trim, and is due al Wellington to-morrow. After discharging her coal she will sco on the Heating dock eaflv next week for complete examination’and permanent repairs.
