BOXING CONTEST
De Gans Defeats H. Reeve By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, May 27. In a professional boxing contest here to-night Roy <lc Gans, list. 131 b., of America, defeated Harold Reeve, 11st. 7lb„ of Mastertoil, light-heavyweight champion of New "Zealand, on a technical knock-out in the eighth round. De Gans won every round, and had Reeve more or less helpless in tlie eighth (although still on his feet), when the referee stopped the contest. This was Reeve’s first loss as a professional in eight contests. He was outclassed in every department, and took much punishment. The Civic Theatre, where the contest took place, was crowded.
