FOXTON FIELDS

Prospects For To-morrow TRACK IN GOOD ORDER

(By

The Watchek.)

The Foxton Racing Club has good pros, pect.s for a successful winter meeting tomorrow. Always a good winter course, the track, with the spell of flue weather, is in first-class order and the going will be perfect. Fair fields are engaged, with good quality in both the principal events. Betting will be on the single pool (75-25) system. Garter Red will have to carry 9.0 in the Trial Stakes, but the field does not represent much stronger class than at Marton and be should be hard to beat again. Ruenzori or Kentucky Song may give him most trouble. Track conditions will suit Speed better than at Dannevirke and he should show up in the hurdle race. Royal King, Kaola, Count Willonyx and Spender must ail be considered, while Blue Boy, on his flat form, should be a good jumping prospect. Spender or Count Willonyx may cause the topweight most difficulty. Prostration’s rise to 9.0 in the Foxton Cup should not stop him as he is in excellent order at present. Davistock is a possibility and his best form has been shown on the track. Diatomous looks better placed in the seven furlong race as,also docs Slippery, but Gay Boy if he takes on the Cup is likely to run well Rose Vai. Lapel and Alchemic cannot be overlooked, but Hunting Lodge will have to improve. Prostration, Gay Boy ami Davistock may be the fancied trio.

Some fair hacks appear in the Himntangi H:md ! «ip. Vinco should be suited bv the shorter distance, but First Chapter’s form si likelv to make most appeal. State Bank. De Trop; Happy Hunting, Golden Chest and Maestro are possibilities, but on form First Chapter should be a good favourite. An interesting race is promised in the steeplechase. The form horses are Croyden, Taura Lad and Battleground, but Royal Banquet and King Thomond represent better class over the hurdles. Royal Banquet has been schooling well at Hastings, and he may be the public fancy. , West Tor’s win in the Bunny Memorial at Carterton entitles him to respect in the Kebbeli Memorial, but his task here will be much more difficult. Diatomous will run a lot better on the firmer going, while Takakua, Gay Boy, Limulus and Jubilee Song are all possibles. Slippery did not show’ his true form at Carterton. Jubilee Song is on his homo track, and his good race at Marton will he remembered. Of the lighter weights, Boomerang is entitled to respect on his form. It is a very open race, but the local horse, Jubilee Song, may be the favourite.

They are not a particularly good lot of hacks in the concluding event. Blue Boy. has no recent form, but .at. his best be would bo hard to boat. On recent running Reipar. Stitchbird and Revival are entitled to most, consideration, while it is possible De Trop may do well over a distance.
