'I here was little discussion, and the leaders of both parties agreed that the Bill ought to be passed without further delay, it being essential to have it on the Statute Book before June 2. The second reading of the Shops and Offices Aniendmvnt Bill was completed and the House devoted the greater portion of the sitting to consideration of the measure in the committee stage. Shortly before the House rose at 11.10 p.m. the State Advances Corporation Bill, making provision for the reconstitution of the Mortgage Corporation of New Zealand, was' mtrduced.
