DOMINION FARMERS TO TOUR
South Australia Visit Sponsored bv the Minister of Agri culture (Hon.' W. Lee Martin) and the South Australian Agricultural Department. a goodwill tour of New Zealand farmers to South Australia is being arranged on the occasion of the Adelaide centenary celebrations in August.
The idea originated when a party from Soul'll Australia was in New Zealand last summer, Mr. It. W. Marshall, Wellington manager of the Government Tourist and Publicity Bureau, told a reunion party of farmers who in 1930 visited England and Europe, and who yesterday were the guests of the department at a screening of AusOralian films. These were shown on al6 m.m. machine and included pictures of beauty spots in South Australia. The tour of South Australian farmers to New Zealand had been such a success, Mr. Marshall said, that the visitors bad demanded a return visit so that they could repay some of the hospitality they had received. The tentative itinerary which hits already been drawn up provides for the party leaving Wellington for Sydney on August IS. Melbourne will tie reached on August 27, and the party will pass through the wonderful dairying and sheep districts of Western Victoria, en route to Mount Gambier. The party will arrive in Adelaide on September 3, and on the two succeed ing days will visit the Mount Lofty Ranges, and the wine-growing districts of the State.
Monday, September 7, the visitors will spend at the Adelaide Show, a feature of which will be an exhibition of merino sheep from all the leading studs in the State. Subsequently, the wheat-growing districts uno several if legation settlements on the river Murray will be inspected. These districts are the centre of the sultana, lexia. currant and citrus production of South Australia, and supply the New Zealand market with large quantities of
The party will leave Sydney on September 19 and will reach Wellington ou September 23.
