PRICE FIXATION
“As Necessary as Fixing Wages” GOVERNMENT’S OPINION An opinion that price fixation was just as necessary as the fixing of wages was expressed by the Minister of Labour, Hon. 11. T. Armstrong, when answering an inquiry by Mr. S. G. Holland (Opposition, Christchurch North) during the committee stage of the Factories Amendment Bill in the House of Representatives yesterday. “I can say this,” said Mr. Armstrong, “that the Government has considered tlie question of the fixation of prices, and we are firmly of the opinion that price fixation is just as necessary as wage fixation.” The Minister added, in reply to Mr. Holland, that if Hie principle of price fixation was applied to the Factories Amendment Biil it would have to be applied to the whole of the Government’s Labour Bills.
