King Country Firm’s Action AUCKLAND MERCHANTS’ ATTITUDE Dominion Special Service. Auckland, May 18. Although timber merchants in Auckland have received no official advice from sawmillers as to a rise in prices, an individual milling firm at Taumaruniii, which is a member of the King Country group, has issued a new schedule of prices, representing an advance of approximately 15 per cent The main increases, based on JOO superficial feet of timber, are as follow’: — , s. d. It was stated to-day that merchants did not wish Io make any increase in timber prices until they themselves had to pay more. Some general increase would almost certainly have to lie made because of higher wages to sawmillers, and merchants in Auckland were looking Io the Auckland Sawmillers’ Association for official advice in this respect. Until such notification was received the price list issued on December 12 last would remain in force.
