Contribution Toward British Defence RESTORATION OF CUTS London. May 14. The Lister Budget provides £400,000 toward the British defence programme. The Minister of Finance, Mr. H. M. Pollock, in introducing the Budget, said that all loyal people in the province desired to make a substantial contribution. The Budget showed revenue amounting to £13,280,000 and expenditure to £12,824,000, leaving a balance of £456,000. supplemented by £94,000 from the unemployment fund. The Government proposed to restore the cuts in salaries of members of Parliament and of the Civil Service, and 3) per cent, of the cuts upon elementary school teachers.
