Details of Minister’s Proposals Wanted By Telegraph.—Press Association. ' Christchurch, May 15. Apprehension at the proposal of th Minister of Transport (the Hon. R. Semple) to group under one tax, preferably the petrol tax, all motor taxation, was expressed at a meeting of the executive of the South Island Motor Union to-night. The executive instructed the secretary to write to the Minister asking for a detailed statement of his proposals, and decided to set up a committee to consider his answer and, if necessary, to call a special meeting of the executive. The Minister’s proposals to extend speed limits on roads were generally approved, one member remarking that ?be speed of passenger vehicles might even be further extended.
