A plea for less business-like methods in the organisation of New Zealand Rugby and for less grimness in its playing was made by Mr J. B. Mawson in prdposiug a toast at the jubilee dinner of the Canterbury - University College Football Club.- Mr. Mawson said that one of the faults of the game in New Zealand appeared to be overorganisation and he thought we could with advantage adopt measures used in England where fixtures were almost haphazardly arranged. Much football nowadays was played in the wrong spirit; there was too strong a desire to win. If teams went on to the field determined to play better football than they had played the last time, the game would be more enjoyable.
