ABOLISHING TRIAL BY PEERS
Bill Passes House of Lords (British Official Wireless.) (Received May 14, 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, May 13. The Bill for the abolition of the privilege of trial by peers for members of the peerage passed its third reading in the House of Lords this afternoon. In a House of Commons answer the .Solicitor-General, Mr. T. O'Connor, stated that the total cost to tlie public funds of the recent prosecution of a peer before the House of Lords was £6S6. It was this case which gave rise to Lord .Sankey’s Bill, which now goes to the House of Commons.
