Two Mishaps in Wellington Yesterday Two breakdowns cause! delays to Wellington’s tramway system yesterday The first was in Hopper Street, and the second, and more serious disloeat on, occurred at the intersection of Hill and Molesworth Streets at 5.45 P The Hopper Street mishap was the result of an axle breaking and causing the tram to leave the rails. The Molesworth Street hold-up oc-curred-when a city-bound tram’s back bogev split the points, and after runnine, along the loop line, derailed the car. A breakdown gang was rushed to the spot, but an hour elapsed before . the tram was coaxed back on the right rails and the line cleared. Occurring as it did during a rushhour period, the mishap held up a string of trains both inward and outwardbound. The department's officials overcame the difficulty smartly by airan o ing a transfer service running from either side of the blocked intersection. It was a coincidence that these mishaps followed a similar happening in Manners Street near the AVillis Street intersection on Wednesday night.
