Youthful Conqueror Of Tolley Beaten BENTLEY’S FINE FORM London, May 1. An 18-year-old schoolboy, the holder of the boys' golf championship, John Langley, defeated in a semi-final of the English Amateur championship Cyril Tolley, winner of almost as many championships as his opponent has years, in one of the finest champion ship matches ever seen. Tolley was four down at the fourteenth. He won the next three, but Langley putted im perturbably at the eighteenth, halving the hole. In the final he met H. Bentley, the Walker Cup player and ex-holder of the French and German championships who, in the other semi-final, de feated C. Stowe, coal miner, who earl ier defeated J. de Forest, son of the millionaire. Bentley and Langley were all square at the eighteenth after which the older player’s experience, most accurate putting and amazing bunker shots made him unbeatable and he won the game by 5 and 4. Hamilton, who Is sft. 2in. tall, and is the smallest competitor in senior golf, sensationally defeated Jock McLean, 3 and 2. McLean’s putting was poor.
