After some discussion at last night’s meeting of the committee of the Pahiatua Racing Club, it wj s resolved to apply to the Racing Conference for Friday apd Saturday, March 19 and 20, 1937, as the dates for tbe club’s next meeting. It was decided that this was the best move, in view of the possible introduction of the universal half-holiday on Saturday. N. Snndilnnd .- report referred to the bad condition of the barrier, which was responsible m some measure for the faulty starts coinplained of by the public. The question of securing a new barrier, which was advocated by several members as being in the club’s best interests, was discussed at length, together with the appointment of another starter, but action was deferred in the meantime. It was deckled, in view or the chibs somewhat obsolete cloths, to obtain quotations for a supply of saddle-cloths, similar to a sample of the cloths used by the Wellington Racing Club, 1 , as placed before the committee. Messrs. D. Kelly and C. Connell were appointed ns delegates to attend the nnnnnl meeting of the New Zealand Racing Conference. Several clnims for destroyed ticket’ were dealt with, it being decided to pay out in ench case.

The secretary, Mr. J. 0. Swninson, submitted a draft statement of accounts in connection with the recent race meeting hold on the course, which disclosed a profit of £574. At the same meeting hist year, the club made a profit of £055 but on that occasion the stakes were lower by £IGO than they were at this year’s fixture, so that the profit this year spoke well for the success of the meet ing.
