Officers Elected at L0.0.F. of N.Z. Meetings There was a large attendance of members and visitors at Rose of Wellington Rebekah Lodge No. 38, L0.0.F. of New Zealand, including the grand warden, Bro. G. F. Rudkin, grand chaplain, Bro. F. J. Jones, Bro. Pi J. Lee, G.L.Rep., the ladv district deputy grand master, Sister M. Sergent, Sis. A. Were. P.L.D.D.G.M., Christchurch, and officers of Victoria No. 2, Esther No. 30, Rahiri No. 49, and Ngaio No. 85 Rebekah Lodges, Sister M. Flaus, N.G., presided. One sister was reported sick quarterly accounts totalling £24/1/5 were passed, and general business disposed of. The L.D.D.G.M., Sister M. Sergent, assisted by a full staff of P.N.G.’s, then installed the following officers designate for the ensuing term. Sisters M. Flaus, J.P.N.G.; D. Merrie, N. L. Hooper. V.G.; A. M. Perry. F. ; A. R. Dearden 0.G.; and Li. H. Hope, musician. On behalf of the lodge, P.N.G. certificates were presented to Sisters E. Collins, P.N.G.. and L. Hope, P.N.G. Responding to a vote of welcofne, congratulatory addresses were made by the Grand Lodge officers and the senior officers of the visting Rebekah Lodges. Zeaiandia Lodge Np. 48, Newtown. Bro. J. O. Josling, N.G., presided over a very large gathering of members and visitors. One member was reported sick, and a member was admitted on transfer. Arrangements were made to visit Pride of Karori Lodge No. 152 at next meeting. The captains of the lodge 500 and cribbage teams reported successes in recent shields tournaments. The following officers-elect were installed by the D.D.G. Bro. R. J. Mathers, and staff: Bros. J. O. Josling, J.P.N.G.; R. W. Harvey, N. W. Fishenden, V.G.; E. D. Wallis, F.S.; C. C. Blakemore. R.S.-; H. J. Darkins, Tr.; J. L. Cairns, warden; N. C Gittes, conductor; B. Fifield, chaplain ; G. 11. Owen, R.S.S.; D. W. Evans, L.S.S.; 11. A. Ilardhtim, R.S.N.G.; F. Malecck, L.S.N.G.; 11. W. Guyton. R.S.V.G.; F Reilly, L.S.V.G.; F. Ingham, 1.G.; and E. W. Tredrea, O.G. Committees for the term were elected, and Bro. C. 11. Smith, P.V.G., was tendered thanks for his services to the lodge, and good wishes on his transfer to Auckland. A vote of welcome extended to the visitors was responded to by officers of visiting lodges. The grand warden congratulated the lodge aud district on the very creditable progress in membership during 1935. which had materially assisted the Dominion jurisdiction to record again an appreciable membershin gain, practically nullifying the effect of the economic depression. He also announced that, despite comparatively heavy expenditure during the year in sick and funeral benefits. and payment of old members' and unemployed members’ dues, etc., the funds under control of the Grand Lodge had increased by about £20.000. due to better results from investments and dues payments by 'members generally, aud that the actuarial valuation of the society’s assets for the preceding, quinquennium recently received had. disclosed a greatly enhanced surplus, which would no doubt enable Grand Lodge at forthcoming session to adopt further progressive measures for the general benefit of the members. It was interesting to note that, as a result, the plus solvency ratio had been advanced appreciably.

Sergent, who extendcd congratulations of Grand Lodge and the district on the progress of the lodge during its first term, and by the senior officers present of Victoria No. 2, Esther No. 30, Rose of Wellington No. 38, and Rahiri No. 49 Rebekah Lodges. Southern Cross Lodge No. 24. Bro. E. G. Miller, P.G., presided oyer a good attendance of members and visitors, including Bro. A. Hodgson, N.G., and officers of Onslow Lodge No. 128, Khandallah. Five members were report ed sick, and accounts totalling £32/9/6 were passed. Four candidates were initiated. The social committee reported arrangements for holding a dance after next meeting, and it was decided to play a U.F.S. 500 shield match at the first June meeting.
