CANDIDATES FOR THE PRESIDENCY
United States Primaries (Received April 30, 8.20 p.m.) New York, April 29. Primaries in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts for the selection of Presidential candidates indicate that Republican voters prefer the candidacy of Senator W. E. Borah, who was unopposed in the first-mentioned State, and Mr. A.. Landon in the second, where Mr. Herbert ‘ lloover received only a scattered vote in opposition. President Roosevelt, for the Democrats, ran well ahead in both States, Mr. Al Smith and Father Coughlin receiving a few votes in Massachusetts, and Mr. Henry Breckenridge, New York, being beaten 18 to one in Pennsylvania by the President.
