Petone and Lower Hutt In Alternate Years. Whether the Anzac Day. parade for the lower part of the Hutt Valley should not be held in Petone and Lower Hutt ii. alternate years is a < uestiou whieh is to receive early consideration from the committee of the Hutt Valley sub-branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association. A recommendation that the matter should be considered by the incoming committee is made in the annual report of the sub-branch, which states that it has been found that the borough that held its service in the afternoon lost the support of a large number. of ex-service-men, who travelled to Wellington to parade with their units. The report shows an increase in membership of 92, the total now being 225. The benevolent committee reports having dealt with 362 applications for assistance and of having issued orders valued at. £309/3/2. Christmas cheer involved an expenditure of £l3O, and a total of 414 children, which included all the children of deceased soldiers in the district, had been provided for.
