ST. GEORGE’S CHURCH
4 Annual Meeting at Seatoun Thirty parishioners attended the annual meeting of St. George's Anglican Church, Seatoun, held in the church hall on Monday night. The vicar, Rev. A. T. Bristed Page, presided. The balancesheets of the vestry, the ladies’ guild, th* Sunday school, choir and Bible class showed a credit balance in each instance, nnd the reports of the various organisations showed steady progress. The wardens’ report once again stressed the need for more accommodation and expressed the hope that the annexe would be enlarged before the end of this year to provide adequate accommodation for the work of the parish. The vicar said that there had bee’.' seven baptisms and 24 candidates for confirmation. There had also been two weddings and eight burials. He made particular reference to the death of Mr. R. N. Gordon, the parishioners’ warden, who had worked faithfully and well for the good of the parish. He referred also to the iosw the parish had sustained by tlie death of Mrs. Magill, Miss Lina Owen and Mr. William Lindup, three staunch nnd energetic workers over a period of many years. The viear appointed Mr. D. Neill Keith ns his wnrden for n further term and Mr. A. J. Taylor was elected parishioners’ warden. The following were appointed to the vestry: Messrs. E. M. Stace, H. P. Fish, 11. Withington and Braithwaite, Mrs. Williamson and Miss Heath. Members of the previous vestry who had resigned for various reasons were thanked for their services. Mr. A. J. MeLennon, hon. auditor, was thanked for his services and reappointed. Mr. Stace was appointed synodsman for the district, his appointment to be confirmed by the parish and the sister church of St. Aiden’s, Miramar.
