Wellington Association Meets TRANSFERS APPROVED At the weekly meeting of the Wellington Football Association last night there were present Messrs. W. B. Hicks (in the chair), G. I l '. Aers, J. Coleman, E. J. Gates, J. Allan, J. Meltzer, J. Kean, E. J. McQueen, J. 11. Janes, C. Ballard, H. Spolsky and B. A. Mabin, secretary. It was decided to send a letter of condolence to Mr. F. O’Driecoll, founder of the Marist Soccer club and a former member of the W.F.A., on the death of his father, Mr. Cornelius O’Driscoll. A letter was received from the New Zealand council that during the tour of the Australian team three Test matches would be played against the visitors. It had been decided that three selectors be appointed for the purpose of selecting players to represent New Zealand in the various Tests. The Wellington association was asked to nominate one selector so that a choice might be made by the council for one to represent the North Island and the other to represent the South Island. The third selector would be appointed from a member of the council, who .would be chairman of the committee. The letter was received, and it was decided to nominate Mr. G. F. Aers, the W.F.A. sole selector, for the North Island position. Mr. J. W. Graham, who was referee of the Petone-Seatoun match on April 18, complained to the association of the difficulty in distinguishing the colours. It was decided to advise the clubs that in future they must make arrangements to avoid a clash of colours. Advice was received from the New Zealand council that entries for the_Chatham Gup would close on May 15 and that the entry fee would be £2/2/- a team. The council would provide for the payment of train and boat fares and these travelling expenses would be the first charge on -the gate money remaining after payment of match expenses. Until the gate paid the match and travelling expenses, therefore, the travelling team would have to pay its own hotel expenses. Any surplus after paying match and travelling expenses would be applied first in payment of hotel expenses and thereafter divided between the associations in accordance with the rules of the Chatham Cup competition. Suspension of A. Leslie. The suspension of A. Leslie, Petone. was referred to in a letter from the N.Z. F.A. “Your letter dated April 18 in reply to my request that all information as to whether the player or club had applied for its removal throws very little light on the matter,” the letter .stated. “It is much regretted that Leslie appears to have been played by his club and the council will be pleased to know whether the player was informed by your committee that he could play or did he assume the newspaper report to be correct and act accordingly ? There, would appear to be some misunderstanding regarding the matter, and I shall he glad if you will be good enough to forward all papers for perusal.” After a discussion in committee it was decided to forward Petone’s original letter to the council and to state that there was no blame attachable to the club or the player, as the committee had considered that it had the power to lift the suspension.
