RUGBY TOUR SCHEME
Question of Finding Money By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dargaville, April 29. A suggestion that the. names of people likely to contribute toward the cost of sending a North Auckland Rugby team on a tour of the South Island be marked on the electoral roll and sent to the North Auckland Rugby Union was received by the Northern Wairoa union last night. “I’ve heard of some cheeky things, but I think this is the best of all.’’ said Mr. W. Underwood. The secretary said that the tour would cost £4OO. “I suggest that the secretary send the names of business people, because on their showing they want to support football,” said Mr. 11. G. Murdoch. The chairman (Mr. W. Kelly): I wonder if there is a bit of sarcasm in that remark. Mr. M. McDonald said that the tour might be a good means of advertising the north. After further discussion the matter was left in the hands of the chairman and secretary.
