f Gains Made By Boroughs JOHNSONVILLE INCREASE I An increase of 443 in the population of Johnsonville is recorded in the latest census retufns issued by the Government Statistician. This is 10 more than the Eastbourne Borough increase during the past decade and gives Johnsonville a population to-day of 1740. Hamilton now has a population of 16,127, an increase of 2109. This makes Hamilton tenth on the list of - New Zealand centres in point of size and within 500 of New Plymouth’s total. Takapuna, the second largest of Auckland’s North Shore boroughs, has added 1183 to its 1926 total of 6075. Lyttelton shares with Port Chalmers an appreciable decline in popula-t.ion--to less than 10 years ago.
