SAVING OF £155,900
Provision For Crown In British Civil List COMMITTEE’S PROPOSALS (British Official Wireless.) (Received April 29, 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, April 28. An annual saving of £155,900 for the time being will result from the proposals of the Select Committee appointed to consider financial provision for the Crown in the Civil List, and the report of which, published to-day, will come before the House of Commons next Monday. The total of the list is £410,000 per annum, compared with £470,000 proposed at the beginning of last reign, but the whole of the sum for his Majesty’s Privy Purse of £llO,OOO will remain undrawn so long as the revenues of the Duchy of Cornwall do not fall below £102,000. Queen Mary will receive an annuity of £70,000. Provision is made for the Duke of York, as heir presumptive, in view of his heavier duties, as well as for the contingency of the King’s marriage.
