HON. P. FRASER

Early Resignation From City Council Another resignation by a Minister of the Crown from local government is in prospect. It was mentioned by the Minister of Education, Hon. P. Fraser, last night, that within a comparatively short time he would be resigning from the Wellington City Council. Apart altogether from the genera! policy of the Labour Party that one man should have only one job, it has been obvious from the advent of New Zealand’s first Labour Ministry that its members would not be able to retain their positions on various local bodies, because of the extraordinary pressure of Ministerial work. Few, if any, men in the Dominion work harder or longer hours every day than do the new Labour Ministers. Mr. Fraser has been a prominent member of the Wellington City Council for many years.
